Autumn Plans Afoot!

We’d just like to update you about our plans for next year.

Thanks to a grant from BCR NP we are ordering planters from Bristol Wood Recycling for Arthur Milton Street and Gloucestershire Cricket Club are donating money for planters on their site too. We are looking for a team of people to help seal them, fill them with soil, and then plant them up in early spring.

We will also be holding winter bird box building sessions, so let us know if you’d like to join in. We held a meeting with the architects AWW and developers of Brunel House to let them know about our aspirations for the area, and they told us they are discussing some public art in the area with the Council.

We also told them about our, as yet, unfunded plans to put up a community noticeboard in the area, we are seeking support from the Co-op. We also talked about community liaison during the construction phase of the site, and how we needed to be informed about what they are doing. At the time of writing the construction firm had not yet been appointed.

We are also starting to think longer term. It seems apparent to us that the college will continue to sell of bits of itself for housing, and as a community we need to come together to articulate what we want for the area such as increased green space and community buildings.

If you are interested in helping us work on a long-term vision and place-making strategy for the area, please let us know.

We are planning some community consultation events in the new year.
